Anyone have an idea as an option for a cheap indoor trainer mat? They want $55 (!!!) for a cyclops mat, which is a rediculous price. What do you use?

Old bath towels work great for me. They catch the dirt and sweat and are washable. Currently my rollers are set up on the hardwood floor without any mat. Seems to be fine.

Use a worn-out yoga mat. The material will help deaden trainer noise and prevent sweat from getting to the floor surface. They're long enough under most rollers/bike combos. Easy to clean too- just hose 'em off.
Most yoga studios have students that will know of at least one. If you can't find one. I have at least two old mats here at the house.

I just let the sweat fall on the linoleum floor.

Might have to take you up on one of those mats Eric. Unless they have flowers or peace signs or other yoga-ish weirdness on them
Our place is small enough (Office/Library/Workout Room/Computer Room/Storage Closet) that i'm at least trying to keep it looking somewhat presentable, despite the bike in the room.

No weirdness, just medium blue. I wouldn't be seen on any flowery, peace-nik strangeness.

I, too, use an old beach towel. Also, I use a Sweat Guard:
![[image]](http://www.performancebike.com/images/performance/products/medium/40-1411-NCL-TOP.jpg) This catches almost all of the sweat so the bike frame doesn't get splattered.
(I really hate that we're talking about indoor training. It seems like summer just got here...)

Sorry 'bout the anguish Alan, although I agree. Except for the occasional non-wet ride, I've been on my trainer since road season ended.
Seeing a lot of DVD movies though

This is my current training set up as it sits in the living room: Yoga mat for the dog, rollers on the hardwood, TV at the ready, and motivation to ride indoors almost zero:

Maybe the dog would like to 'play' with our cat? I suppose I must wait for the girls to move-out before I can really rid myself of this pet.
Nuts.
