From Bill Bender ( bbender2417@hotmail.com): Happy Memorial Day, I am writing to ask you a favor. At our inaugural SpokeFest last year, we had great volunteer help from several groups of high school students. Most of them were positioned along the course to cheer people on. We believe that this year's event, which will be on Sunday September 13, will have about 3,000 riders, making it the biggest bike ride ever to take place in Spokane. I am hoping to enlist the help of more high school students this year, and would like to pin down some commitments before the school year gets out, since the event will happen just after school starts in the fall. Last year, for example, Mark Vandine, the LC track coach, was able to round up his girls team for the event. So, if you have a returning high school student who is part of any type of group, I wonder if you would mind asking that group, or the head of it, if they would like to volunteer a few hours to cheer on cyclists in September. I think they will have a good time, and they'll get an event t-shirt for their efforts. Thanks for the consideration, Bill
