Josiah asked about sand last week. There is great sand and lots of it along the fence down in the basin at the ORV park. Mike, I see what you mean about powering through it.

Mike, or anyone.
Are disc brakes prohibited in all cyclocross events or just certain sanctioned events?

Disc brakes are against UCI 'cross rules. Local races usually don't enforce the rule.

Yes disc brakes are against UCI cross rules....However they still allow them!! At Starcrossed this year they were all over the place! So I'm not sure how it works, maybe its up to the promoters?? Maybe it depends on the event, or maybe cat.....Might be Cat, I did not see any in the Elite cat's.....??

I'm not sure what they did at Starcrossed this year, but in a lot of regional races, they only enforce the UCI rules in the UCI categories of the race. That is, the Pro12 races at Starcrossed, USGP and so on. Thats why you also see mountain bikes being used at Starcrossed in the lower (non UCI) cats. Locally here in Spokane, it's up to the local officials (namely Marla) as to how to enforce the rules. It looks like Marla is partially using UCI rules for the A's and B's because she says "700c" wheels only. But I'm guessing she will allow disc brakes this year.
