Sucks. They didn't give many details about the accident. Hope he's okay. Yep, Tom is right as always, the more visibility the better. Even then you're still at the mercy of the driver's skill and attention. I am a little, lets say, disappointed, in the comments posted about the article. Makes me wonder about A) if we are really making any progress as cyclists in Spokane and B) the intellect of the krem 2 audience.
edit: I pulled my thoughts together and posted a comment on the krem site.

Couldn't resist . . . I left a comment too. Watch out if you head over there - major brain trust hanging out at krem.com and they might suck you in with their massive intellect and ruthless powers of persuasion.

Ouch, I just can't do it. Way to go Spokane. "Disapointed" is the only word that this post will allow me to type about the comments on KREM's site. All the rest turn in to @#$*&^.

Pat_S's comments are pretty darn funny. But only in light of how sad the other "what's a cyclists doing out at 6 am?!" comments are.

I have to admit I was wondering what I was doing out there at 6:15 this morning. I brought the topic up at work this am and found that even the "well educated" agreed with most of the comments on the web site. #$ck "em all.

I echo everyone's sentiment hoping the cyclist is okay and has a speedy and full recovery. I also agree the KREM could have done a better job reporting the FACTS of the accident, i.e. who had the right-of-way at this particular intersection, will the driver (or the cyclist) be cited. Was the cyclist already ON the ground when he entered the intersection (moot point if the CYCLIST had the right-of-way). Really poor reporting of the facts in my opinion but not nearly as bad as the comments left on KREMS web-site but hopefully this story will help raise public awareness of the need to be extra careful (both automotive and cyclist)
