Here's something to shoot for: - Race in the Tour de France
- Hit 60+ mph on the decent
- Encourage other riders to go faster by with a gentle nudge to the backside at said 60+ mph
Oh, yeah. And one more thing:

I think Lance is right up there for "best save ever" with his off-road skeels here:

Ride your bike 20,000+ miles a year and I guess you establish a certain comfort level? Ah, to be pro.

I think Lance is right up there for "best save ever" with his off-road skeels here: pretty slick w/the CX style re-mount once back on the road...

I bet he had a bit of adrenaline pumping, too Hey Tom... that got me thinking (yeah it happens)! Why no CX racing for you? It was my first try at CX racing this year and I remember thinking at the beginning I'd see you out there kill'in it! What's up?

I bet he had a bit of adrenaline pumping, too Hey Tom... that got me thinking (yeah it happens)! Why no CX racing for you? It was my first try at CX racing this year and I remember thinking at the beginning I'd see you out there kill'in it! What's up? It looked fun although I was disappointed to learn that only the beginner class can use a flat-bar bike (I would've used my mountain bike). But right now, I'm not getting many hours at work because it's the off-season, so I'm in the red by $200-300 per month just paying the bills. This is why I stopped racing before the season ended, and began saving as much money as I could. Training would mean having injury/health insurance, extra food, extra laundry, and bike maintenance. Racing means all of that plus entry fees and travel expenses. So at the moment, I'm focused more on financial survival and avoiding getting injured. Once work picks up, my next goal is to eliminate my remaining interest-bearing debts and begin saving for next winter. After that, I really should try to establish some sort of retirement plan. Sobering thoughts, but it's time. How about you, did you get to some of the CX series? Was it fun?

Ahhh... I get where you're coming from on the racing/finance connection(s). Sounds like you're on it and have a good plan. I just hope we have a chance to race together this coming season.
Yeah... I took in a few CX races this year in the INWCX Series. It was good experience for me to get my first taste of off-road racing. I've never done anything off road before, so it was a completely new experience for me. I like it though... enough to take it much more seriously next season.
