Today I took the direct route to work, then a longer route home (downtown > Hwy 195 > Hangman loop > 57th), and shot some video along the way. The roads are nicely plowed, so it wasn't exactly difficult. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfG1kjwVgi4I did get yelled at on the way home by a yahoo in a Corrola, and by another yahoo passenger in a pickup... evidently their manhood was threatened by the sight of someone riding a bike in the winter. But one guy walking along High Drive saw me going by and said "That's dedication! " So it's good guys 1, bad guys 2.

Surprisingly I didn't have a bad time with the cars in the Shadle area this afternoon. Didn't get honked at once!

Killer vid, Tom. KILLER. Ummmm, Tom . . . are we talking about the same roads? You need to give yourself some credit, bro. Rdiding along 195 and UP Hatch in the snow, at night?? You da MAN!! And hey, the world's full of critics, so I always give 5 points for a positive comment and 1 for a negative. Score is good guys 5, bad guys 2, in my book.

Oh, not up Hatch all the way, just around the first bend so I could hit Hangman Valley Road. These days I avoid climbing Hatch, because it gets so much more traffic than it used to. It might be a great training climb at 3AM when there's just an occasional car, but on compact snow & ice with the 7PM traffic load, it would be dangerous and stressful for everyone involved. I heard the county is going to put a shoulder or bike lane on Hatch Road I also heard it's supposed to happen in about 15 years Too bad, because it's a nice climb.
