There's good news for local Cat 3 racers this upcoming season: there's one more Cat 3 racer to beat up on... Dear Alan Jacob,
The following request to change your USCF category has been approved and processed by USA Cycling:
Member: Alan Jacob 2008-12-17, 16:04 License: Road Racer Request to change category from Cat 4 to Cat 3 Does this mean that I need buy a power meter, monitor my training, and stop eating french fries hand over fist?...

No, please don't stop that stuff. I can use every advantage I can find. But if you do ever want to target a race to win, let me know and I will set you up with very slightly organized training. Don't worry, I would keep it "Alanized," which would include racing buses, resistance training on bikes that weight over 50 lbs, and then free-for-all scenarios where the only goal is to keep your heart rate over 180 beats per minute for more than 40 cumulative minutes of a ride.
Congrats. I have an issue of velo news for you when I see you next

Congratulations on the upgrade Yeah, now you need new toys (power meter, dedicated raceday wheelset, etc). Hopefully there's a tax refund coming in a couple months for all of us

Are you around Scott? We looked for you and Leslie at the AToC. Thought you might be hanging out with the Saxo Bank guys. I didn't see you anywhere among the 2 million people at the Prologue- Stage 2. ;D
