Glad to hear of the participation! Has there been any conversation of how the team wants to approach the categorization? Are we to focus on Cat 4/5, Masters, etc?
I wondering how I should sign-up...Cat 4/5 or Masters 40+? Where does the team want me?

Good question, I was hoping that we (The Team) would have a group ride of the course very soon and figure these things out. Maybe next Sunday?? 10ish start time?

Where does the team want me? -Eric True, 35+ riders have some choices in fields: Master Men A (35+) Master Men B (40+) Master Men C (50+) Seniors 4/5 The race distances are the same. I've never raced as a master, but from riding with you guys, I can say that all fields are competitive. The order of difficulty probably goes something like: Masters A> Seniors 4/5=Masters B > Masters C. Older Masters can usually choose to "race up" a category (50+ men can still ride with Masters B, for example). The younger you are, and the lower your USAC category, the less choice you have in fields. For you Eric, the best thing to do is talk to the fellow Masters, see what everyone else is doing. I know that we have a handful of 40-50 year old masters that will do fine in either the 4/5 or Masters B fields.

Mike, Thank you for the info...yes, I would like to discuss with the other guys. I would like to learn who's thinking about this group. I this case, I prefer not to guess.
David, Good idea. A group ride or group meeting, whichever lets us determine by deliberate discussion (what we plan to do).
Better sooner than later, -Eric

Here are the fields as of today. If no one else wants to race Master B, I might jump over to 4-5. But in my mind, it's necessarily our goal to get everyone racing in the same field. I'd like to see strong groups of SRV riders in more than one field.

Correction. I meant to say, "But in my mind, it's not necessarily our goal to get everyone racing in the same field. I'd like to see strong groups of SRV riders in more than one field."

I'm 44, so that puts me in Masters B (by age structure, unless otherwise planned). I'll complete registration tonight for Mas-B as default.
I'm available for rides/course review during the week and on the weekends of the 7th, and 21st.
I agree with Pat. I'd like strong groups in the various fields. But, I'd wonder if we have enough riders to form groups in each field.

I'm signed up for Master Mens B. Does this keep me from moving up from Cat 5? Anyone know a resource that I can study?

I would like to ride the course next Sunday (15th). It would have to be a 12:30 or 1:00 start time for me to make it. With daylight savings time this weekend, day light should not be a problem for a afternoon ride.

Eric, Unless the Masters cat needs a rider, I would suggest you start as a 4/5. We will know more on the 15th! As for Sunday the 15, how about 1:00 roll out from the park for a Team Course Preview.

Nuts, That's a visitation weekend which usually means I don't have riding time. During the week or adjacent weekends are my best available times. Otherwise I'd be all over it. I'll see if I can change my entry to Cat 4/5? -Eric

Well I'm not sure who is racing the Masters Cat, but i do know that there will be a few riders doing their best to mix it up in the Cat 4/5, and the more the merrier!

who is racing in 4/5s ?
to answer eric's question, yes any mass start race counts for the 4 upgrade, and masters races usually count for 4>3 upgrade. if i were you eric, i would look at your competition and see where you will be most competitive.
