The Corsa is the talk of the town this week ;D Tom's done some reckon and says that the course is in good shape, corners swept and most pavement is good. To me it looks like the pavement on the downhill is a little rough, but nothing that isn't ridable. I hope the weather's okay

Here's the predicted wind direction. The NWS predicts winds around 21mph gusting to 30mph, which should make the final 5 miles quite tough. Logistics: remember that you finish 5 miles up the road from where you parked, and that the mosquito population will converge on you if you stand still for very long.

That's a nice graphic. It shows what I've always suspected: it's possible to go on a ride and NEVER had a tailwind, only headwind and crosswind

We had a good race in the B pack (other than being pretty cold when the rain hit ). One rider soloed early on, Joel Jones of Baddlands bridged up to join him, and we spent the rest of the race trying to catch them. In the chase group, we had two experienced Baddlands riders who did a good job of staying in the mix and supressing the chase effort, which I found educational. In the end, we never did catch the break, but at least the chase group was small enough that everyone had a fair shot at the field sprint

Yeah the B race was exciting. The two rider breakaway maintained a consistent 30 seconds on the 8 rider chase group for the majority of the race. Within the last 5 miles, the leaders increased the gap to about 50 seconds. I wouldn't have expected the race to finish like that. That group of two was ahead of the field for a good 23 miles! Very strong...too bad there weren't any SRV riders in the mix In the A pack, I hear Royce got into a good group and got 3rd? Nice!

Alan tells me Royce and Mark Knokey were up there with one other VE rider, yeah In the B pack, yeah, when I saw Joel bridge up to join the solo guy (I think his name's John, a rider from out of town), I didn't think they'd last long, because of how strong the headwinds had been up on the top of the climb. I think the work of the Baddlands riders in the chase group made the difference, and I told Joel he owes them a beer In retrospect, I wish I'd tried to bridge up along with Joel, when I saw he was moving up there.
