It’s on!
We've been up at the course and it looks great. Yes the hill is still there but as soon as you crest the hill you've got an awesome decent into Williams Valley (I think that's what it's called). Ron B clocked us at 54mph on the decent and that wasn't really even trying. Anyone who doesn't fancy them self as a pure climber still has a decent shot in this race because after the 1 mile climb you have about 5 miles of downhill or flats to catch those pesky climbing specialists ;D Once you turn on Monroe road again, there's slight uphill to the community center(staging) and another 2 miles of rollers to the finish.
Be careful on the right turn onto Staley Road after the decent because there's a line that's off camber. You'll be going about 25-30 mph going into the turn, but it's is a 20 mph turn. The good line is on the extreme inside.
The finish line is in the same spot as last year, on Ridgeway Road. All of the corners are swept and there are no potholes out there like last year. I hope we get a good turnout this Tuesday! Come on out and play.

I was out there last night after work for a couple laps. I'm glad the forecast calls for around 78°F on Tuesday, because I'm not acclimated to the 85°+ weather yet! There were lots of bugs (there's a moth stuck to my downtube now) so anyone wavering on whether to wear glasses, you're going to want them. On Staley Road, the edge of the road does drop right into a gravelly ditch in places, so if you're at the right, don't get too close to the edge. That hill is pretty cool. For anyone who's never done it, it's about one mile and 400ft elevation gain, so about 7.5% average grade: www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2873013 As Mike pointed out, it's a long way from the finish line, so if someone gets away on the climb, there'll be time to reel them in.

Uh ohs! Well, it looks easy to fix. The home page is working, but the HTML code for the links currently has about: in the link code, when you want ./ instead. ^ change about: to ./ and it ought to be working again. Looks like a variety of the homepage's links got broken at some point.

Yeah, I looked a little closer and realized just the links were broken. Our site is about to be changed over to "google sites" and I have a feeling this glitch may be part of the transition. I'll give it a few hours and if it's not automatically fixed by tonight I'll fix it myself.

Well, I learned a new trick today. Before the race, just spill your energy drink all over your cycling shorts, and save all the trouble of having to actually drink it In the B pack, we got strung out on the main climb on the first lap. Coming over the top, a break developed and it ended up staying away, then split into two smaller groups for the second lap. When the break split in half, I managed to bridge from the second group to the first group, and rode most of the second lap with Kalen Darling (unattached) and Bob Fisher of Baddlands. Baddlands and SRV riders in the pack sat up and supressed the chase, thanks guys! Oh, and congrats to everyone who put on the race for us. Looks like it went really smoothly!

And not a bad finish Tom. Starting out the 2nd series in 3rd place is a good thing.

Thank you to all the volunteers who came out to make this race go on. Local racing could not happen without our volunteers!

Was a great race. Some good finishes & rides by SRV guys too.
I have to say, the best bit of advice for volunteering i've had in some time came from Tom before the race - bug repellent! No-seeums all over the place!

No-seeums all over the place! I used Tom's spray before the race and I was good to go. I'll remember to bring a bigger supply for the next two races.

Okay, Tim, that was an oversite on my part. I didn't realize you were on the race roster from last series. You will get your two points! Unfortunately the team doesn't get points for helping out
