Whitworth University just announced that they'll be giving out interest-free, 36-month bike loans to its employees. The idea is: get employees on bikes, increase productivity, increase "green" impact, decrease health care costs, and decrease parking problems.
Do you know of other companies that offer this?
From Whitworth's intranet:
"Each qualified employee may use this interest-free loan for the purchase of new or used computer system, hardware/software upgrade to an existing system, or a new or used bicycle or bicycle equipment.
"Each employee may borrow UP TO $2,000 but NOT LESS THAN $200 to be applied toward the purchase of home computer equipment, peripherals, supplies, software and/or the purchase of bicycle equipment.
"The loan(s) is to be paid back over no more than thirty-six- month period. Loan requests will be approved for employees who qualify and have paid their previous loans (by type, i.e., computer or bicycle equipment acquisition) in full."
(I wonder if a new Trek Madone 6.9 would be considered a commuter.)
