Going to do my first climb of Mt. Spokane tomorrow (Friday 9/4) morning if anyone is interested in joining. I'm shooting for completion...no speed at all until I turn around at the top.
Checked with the Ranger up there and the road will be open tomorrow with no construction, although there's a 1/4-mile section of gravel at the base.
Riding out there from town. Expect to hit Hawthorne Road (at Whitworth) at about 7:30, and reach Feehan Road (first slight hill on Mt. Spokane Park Dr.) at about 9:00 if anyone is interested in joining up. I haven't met many of you, but am always glad for company on a ride...even if it is just to say hello at the base and watch you run away from me up the climb!

So tempting...but...must...work. D'oh! (And even this weekend's booked with Whitworth opening. Double D'oh!)

Let me know how the gravel section is. I'm doing that ride on Monday and was wondering how it's going to be. Thanks.

The ride was great! The gravel section was rideable, but a little loose in places. From Bear Creek Lodge it took me 82 minutes to climb to the summit (a few stops included). What a great feeling! I've now climbed a mountain on my bike! The descent was the greatest reward...16 minutes back to the lodge.
Three other riders passed me before the lodge, and they cheered for me on their way down, right about the timber line. I love this sport!
I felt cooked by the time I reached the bottom, but had 10 more miles to ride to meet my family and pick peaches at Greenbluff. Ran out of water and then came into some gravel over that trek that was brutal (at Randall Road).
Logged 57 miles and feel like I'll be alright for Tour des Lacs in a couple of weeks.
