This is a 50 mile loop with about 60% pavement and 40% gravel and jeep trails. A cyclocross bike works perfectly but you could also get away with a road bike with durable tires, or a mountain bike with fast rolling tires. Meet near the Downriver Grill at 10:00 AM. This is a link to a map and que sheet (but we might reverse the loop tomorrow) www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/South-Bank-Road-LoopThe forecast looks acceptable: www.intellicast.com/Local/Weather.aspx?location=USWA0422This was from march, but I trust the road will be in better shape tomorrow:

Ah, the "Death March". How I remember it so. As I recall, even the animals were dieing along side the road. I so wish I could be there but other plans lead me in different directions. It would be nice to do that route without 6 inches of snow and ice to walk through like the last time around and that WAS on my road bike. My cross bike is itching to get into some riding like this but will have to wait for another day.
Have a great ride guys!!!

The conditions were much more agreeable today. Crystal clear blue skies and about 60 degrees. Where as last time it took about 60 minutes to traverse South Bank Road, today it took about 15 minutes It helped that the road was bone dry.

Great ride Mike. Broke in the cross bike with a vengeance. This ride had it all(except snow). Single track, boulders, washboards, 30mph sailing on the flats. This ride is destined to become a fixture.

I wish I had come with you. As it was, I spent the entire day burying wire for the pooch invisible fence. Would have like to have done this ride in dry conditions. How about next next weekend for a cross ride?
By the way, how bad was the wind out there?

Stu says he's going golfing instead . Yeah, there was wind. Wind is a fact of cycling life, just like hill climbs, chip seal, and rain. I try to embrace it!

This thread is about riding, and Dale's excuse for not riding, Pat.

Guilty as charged. Due to the fact that my schedule will require the dog to police himself, this was the only option I could come up with, not the best mind you, but short of hiring someone to walk the old guy (not talking about me Pat) three times a day, this seemed to be the next best solution. Pat, I got those Craft WS Thermal Cycle Pants the other day. You were not exaggerating, Those are the most comfortable bike pants I have ever worn. So much so that I think I'll get a couple more before Craft stops making them. They were hard to find but found them on-line for a fair price at Niagara Cycle.
