Update: tires are sold tooThese 26-inch Nokian Extreme 294s probably have one or two seasons left in them. A few of the studs are missing or have broken tips. If you can't afford $85-$150 or more for a brand-new set of Nokians, how's $35 for a pair of used ones sound? Hey, it's cheaper than an X-ray... These weigh 1960 grams/pair, and being Nokians, the studs are carbide-tipped. Carbide is where it's at, it'll hold up to plenty of bare-pavement riding. (rear rack is now sold to Josiah)

Cool, it's yours If you want to drop by for it, send me a private message with a time to expect you; I'm down on Broadway near Monroe. Or I can bring it out there to Whitworth for you.

Here's a sales pitch for you Tom: I've had those Nokian tires for 4-5 season now (maybe a different model, but the same). They are the BEST. They make riding on glare ice feel like you're riding dry asphalt. The only detractor I've found is that they roll with quite a bit of resistance. But they are definitely recommended for anyone thinking about toughing it out this winter.
I'd like to try a set of 700 c on my 'cross bike.

Salesman #2 here.
+1 for the Nokians. I own 3 sets. So maybe that's really a +3.
Ditto what Mike said - they hook up like crazy on ice. Yup, expect to go a little slower. So what, it's winter and you're riding. Outside.
$85 - $150 is a little on the low side for new ones I think. $140 - $180 sounds more like it to me. So $35 is a killer deal if you're thinking about giving studs a try.
No, I do not own stock in Nokian.

Thanks for the endorsements, guys Sounds like I may have a buyer, so I'm putting the tires on hold until I know for sure.

Tom, if you buyer falls through I' ll take them txt 844-6358 You'll be next in line but I think the person's going to take them, so as a next-best value, the Nokian Mount & Ground would be worth a look. They seem to be about $86/pair shipped: aebike.com/product/nokian-mount-ground-w160-26-x-1.9-studded-sku-tr1102-qc30.htm Still cheaper than an X-ray Just don't wait too long, because studded tires often sell out in the United States once the East Coast gets its first serious storms.
