Welcome, fellow cycling enthusiast, to the Winter 2007 Spokane Rocket Velo Newsletter. Let the fun begin!
As December rolls in, so does the cycling. For instance, SRV captured the “first snow” at Riverside just a few days ago as some intrepid mountain bikers pinballed their way through the 3-inch deep snow. The snow was fresh, fluffy, and swished beneath the wide tires. And while the cyclocross season ended just a few weeks ago (with SRV showing great results (see emdesports.com/Results/2007_INWCX.xls) you can still see SRV riders on their bikes completing errands, riding to and from work, and slogging through frigid training rides. And speaking of training rides…
Weekly Indoor Training Rides
There’s no reason to sit on your butt and watch cartoons Saturday mornings when you can join fellow SRV riders for some fun indoor training rides. Sure, you’ll still be on your butt and watching TV, but the difference will be that you’ll be on your bike spinning like a madman. SRV has a good collection of training DVDs that’ll keep your legs spinning, your heart pumping, and your fitness up during the holidays.
• December 8, 15, 22 (no 29 ride) and January 5: Mike Sirott’s house (3408 W. Glass Ave)
• January 12, 19, 26 and February 2, 9, 16, 23: Whitworth University, Scotford Fitness Center
All rides start at 10 a.m. You’ll need to bring your own trainer, a towel to catch sweat, and of course, your bike! Haven’t got a trainer? Head out to North Division Bike Shop to see their deals on trainers (see www.northdivision.com/parts/trainers.htm).
Additionally, there will be Thursday night indoor training rides all winter at Mike Sirott’s house. Ain’t he gracious? Check the forum/calendar for more details about these rides.
Half-Priced SRV Clothing Closeout!
What?! Squadra clothing at half price?!
That’s right: you can get last year’s team clothing for half of its normal price. That’s like getting a Mercedes for the price of a Yugo! We’ve got arm warmers, leg warmers, jerseys, short, and even a skinsuit. Availability of all items is limited so stop in at North Division Bike Shop today and grab what you can!
2008 Team Kit Clothing
Every few years, SRV redesigns its team kits because better fabrics and fits come on the market. SRV works closely with Squadra’s art department to design a team kit that suits the demands of your riding and racing as well as looking pretty darn fly. And, as if there was any doubt, the new design will maintain the colors of SRV—who doesn’t love blue and orange together?—but early ideas propose a faster, more aggressive look.
A wishlist with prices and pictures of the final design will be posted on the website soon. And new for this year: you should be able to purchase your clothing through SRV’s PayPal account. On small step for man, one giant technological leap for SRV!
Pass the eggnog, please!
North Division Bike Shop is again throwing a Christmas party for all of the shop’s loyal customers. Stop by the shop on Saturday, December 15 from noon to 5 p.m. There will be live music, food, prizes. Bring the whole family! After all, wouldn’t your spouse like to actually meet your so-called “friends”?
Come for the food, stay for the eggnog.
