An excerpt from www.kk.org/cooltools/archives/000049.php: "I've renounced chains on bikes now that I've fallen in love with the chainless bicycle. I've been riding a chainless for about 5 years now. Drive shafts for bikes were invented at least a hundred years ago; what's new is their new low cost, clever shifting, and improved efficiency. Since there is no chain, contemporary chainless bikes use a hub transmission on the back wheel instead of a stack of different gears to "shift gears". Some pictures include on the site, but a better closeup picture can be found at ohgizmo.com/2006/06/20/dekra-chainless-bicycle/Alan

I must say, the idea is interesting. The price, however, for a Dynamic Bicycles Outback Elite is a huge gouge! $879 for a glorified Next FS Bike??!! Come on now. I am a little upset that innocent people everywhere are getting duped into thinking that you can stick a shaft drive on a Huffy and charge 3 times more.

I had one of those no shaft, no chain; however it only worked good going downhill or skateboard pedaling it.
