This is a nice video piece from The New York Times about the bicycling-city known as Portland. And while they get two points for having a better cycling infrastructure and easily WAY more riders than Spokane, at least we best them in a couple of ways: - Massive chops. Both cities have cyclists who sport gnarly sideburns. Spokane's chops also race pretty darn well, too. One point awarded to Spokane.
- City park fountains. Both cities have fountains that spray huge amounts of water. Our is stainless steel; their's is prison-cell-wall-colored concrete. One point to Spokane.
- Both have a road named "Hawthorne". Tie.
- Both have random graffiti and stickers on signs. Tie.
That's just too close to call... Video: video.on.nytimes.com/?fr_story=278032d5df02f06be646116987472a48d5d707e0Enjoy, Alan

I'd love Spokane to get on that band wagon!! I'm thinking Portland has us beat, the last time I saw thirty bikers all commuting ..............wait I've never seen it.

Portland should get deducted a point for the climate. 3 of the 4 times I have ridden there, when I got home I was sprouting gills like Kevin Costner in Waterworld. Rain, rain, rain. I was glad I knew how to swim. Nice terrain though! ;D
