I was asked about it yesterday while sporting the blue SRV t-shirt and had to admit I knew not what it meant. My best explanation is that in the history of early SRV rides, someone came in from a bitter cold ride, mouth too frozen to get words out correctly and said "Duck Food, that was one cold ride!" Come on, let us newbies in on the secret!!

The original saying, as I have heard it, is really an anagram of duck food, which can't be posted on this forum. Ask the original SRV'rs at the bike shop. As somebody said once at an SRV meeting, this is a family club now, which is why Duck Food was removed from the newer jerseys.

It's food that you feed ducks. You know duck food. Simple stuff man. Willegalle knows the long version.

DUCK FOOD. Walter came up with it.. Yes it's a anagram. You need to say it like Jeff Spicolly (Fast Times At Ridge Mount High) winded . It's what the rider behind the SRV rider says because of the too fast pace. ;D

The term was born one winter afternoon after hours of internet surfing, the appropriate occupation which one employs in order to cope with the mind numbing effects of the off season. Willegalle came running in from getting coffee and yelled, "Duck Food look like you're doin' somethin', Gangus Kahnley just pulled in the driveway!" We all promptly underwent the transformation which naturally occurs when ones boss is about to walk through the door.
The term has no other etymology to the best of my knowledge.

From Chicago to New York - Duck Food is something you feel in your soul... nice to know the man the myth the legend continues to roam the world. Oh yeah, and the logo came from a cut out piece of cardbaord Walter and a box knife made one evening during once famous, now banned, "parking lot beers." It hung above his bench for years.
