I'm looking to get a secondary helmet-mounted light. I have a Knightrider Dual Beam Classic now, but want a helmet-mounted light to A) provide extra light on the trail and B) as a solo light for my commuting to and from work. - I have a price range of $100 to $175.
- I want a system that won't allow me to over-charging the battery.
- Helmet-mount is a must.
Suggestions? Alan

IMHO, you should get a good LED light for commuting and as a back-up in the woods.
For something brighter, have you checked out those new super bright LED systems? I was looking at Cygolit'es new rechargable, head mounted LED. I think it's around $150 or so. Looks really cool.

Well your best bet is to stick with the brand you have, that way you keep the conections the same and maybe even batterys and chargers that will keep all your options open no matter what your after. You can get into a 6 Volt Halogen (10 watt) Helmet or bar mount by niterider the Trail Rat for about $120. That gets you about 2.5 hour of burn (one setting) and is 450 grams (1 pound).
If you went to another brand Light & Motion, The Solo is a good bet at $130, this is a touch brighter using a 13 watt, same weight, burn time and mount.
Another option is a Hike style Led light, they can be super bright for about $50-100, but I think they are all AAA, or AA, and have to be replaced about every 50-100 hours. Tons of different brands here. I own a Black Diamond 4 led light setup for my back-up, not bright enough for my taste. Its not fun if you can't see!!
My thought is this, save up a little more cash and get a system that uses the same battery and charger system (13.2 volt battery and 2.5 hour charger) that you own now, that will open the door for different options depending on the ride, those systems will start at the $250 mark. This set up will give you the most options.
