Jerry is leading the Springdale Hunters Loop Ride. As luck would have it, I am told I must attend my niece's wedding and need to be home by at least 3pm. I am thinking of riding with the gang from Springdale to Hunters then turn around and go back to Springdale. That would provide a 56 mile ride and climbing the pass twice. That should whip the legs as good as the long way around. Any takers??

Here's another suggestion I'll throw out: Since the Tour of Pain has been cancelled, how about we have our own Tour of Pain this Saturday. Leave from my place at 7:00 AM, ride to Springdale for the loop, then ride home--> That should be about 180 miles, with about 10k feet of climbing? Any takers?

I'll be at your place at 0645 hrs at the latest. Good positive suggestion... I like that. It'd be nice if we had three or four riders making this trek. Plenty of fun to go around. Brian Houser, Alan or anyone else feel like an endurance ride this weekend?

I'm not sure if Brian checks the forum much. Somebody should call him. I think Alan's out.

I, of course, was referring to Ri'chard's Drive in...one $0.99 Whammy per person...and if you can do it in 5 hours or less, I'll even buy one side of Ri'chard's French Fries that you may all split among yourselves.

Give us more credit here. Here's a better idea: our ride will take us by the Clayton Drive-In, home of the ""World Famous Clayton Burger". If you're not sure what they are, ask Rick Williams. He used to work there.

Okay, meet at my place at 0645, depart at 0700. We'll meet Brian Houser at Bowl and Pitcher at 0710. We might be a little later than 0900 to Springdale. If the Springdale group rolls out at 0915, we'll probably catch you in time.

Jerry asked me to post the following: Some Springdale Loop Riders starting at Springdale will meet at Kalico's Kitchen on Division at 07:30 for SRV communion. For those wishing to join them, just show up. I had no takers on the Springdale to Hunters back to Springdale route, so I have made different arrangements to coincide with a wedding attendance that has been forced upon me. Why is it that people have to get married in the summer???

Leave from my place at 7:00 AM, ride to Springdale for the loop, then ride home--> That should be about 180 miles, with about 10k feet of climbing? Any takers? Brian Houser and I successfully completed this loop... my bike computer registered 181 miles from Sirott’s house to completion of the loop and return. Brian Houser had 197 miles as he rode in from Cheney. I gave Brian a lift back to Cheney from Sirott’s house. The heat was tough. As with any longer distance ride you'll probably experience low points... mine was the heat and the hunters pass climb. Brian had some dehydration induced nausea and headache... but we rode through the low points. Mike put in alot of miles the week prior and his legs weren't there. I was grateful we didn't have to combat fierce headwinds from Chewellah to Springdale... we made good time. Upon returning to Springdale at the 132 mile mark... we were both tired. It would have been too easy to crawl back into a team car if one were there and get a lift back to Spokane. So, thanks for not being there guys! We owe you one and we'll remember that. We took a 30 minute break in Springdale to rehydrate and eat, which did me good. I inquired of Brian how it was that we got ourselves into this mess. I felt stronger starting out on the remaining 49 mile return to Sirott's house. I had a flasher on the rear of my hydration pack. We got into Tum Tum and this was the first occasion I pulled out the cell phone to call Sirott as neither of us wanted to be riding after dark... but guess what, no reception. It was a blessing! We were racing daylight. We pressed on, climbing out of Tum Tum followed by the Nine Mile descent. We continued on 291 until turning on Seven Mile and back to the Trail followed by arrival at Sirott's house at 2137 hrs. I was relieved to be off the main highway. A mental snapshoot or one of those special Kodak moments was the descent onto Hwy 291 from CorkScrew Canyon road and seeing people swimming and fishing off to the right near the shoreline... special moment with the sun going down. Another Kodak moment was a group of llamas so curious about us. A tough ride... I'm glad we did it and we’ll do it again… but on another day. Dale, we didn’t require the services of Heart Flite. We saw them do a fly over and thanks again for alerting them to our route. Actually, if Heart Flite had landed in the Springdale Park we would have jumped in.
