In the past couple of months, as gas rose above and then fell below the $4 mark, I thought I saw more bikes on the rode. And not just people-going-for-a-workout kind of bikes, but more morning commuters who in a sleepy, pre-cup-of-coffee haze pedal their various metal steeds to work while dodging potholes and cars, swearing and swerving at both.
At first I thought it was just coincidence, that I was just starting to "see" what was already there to begin with. But as the summers progressed (and dare I say, "as fall approaches"?) I'm starting to think that there really are more bikes on the road.
Am I (and the half-dozen commuters I pass each morning) alone in this belief? Are there really more commuters than ever?

More bikes than ever, in my opinion. If this keeps up, we're going to have to find another way to be social misfits. ;D
