DeTour Spokane is a 75-mile-ish mountain bike ride that hits pretty much every major trail in Spokane, from Riverside to South Hill, Mount Spokane to Beacon (and not necessarily in that order). Problem is there's no date set yet for DeTour. We've got 7 Summits happening September 26-28 and Priest Lake in October sometime. The weekends are filling up. Any particularly attractive dates for DeTour Spokane? While not ridden last year--Mike was busy and I was out with back surgery--I'm eager to do this epic ride again. There are a couple of pictures from 2006 ( www.spokanerocketvelo.com/detourspokane2006) and maybe we could add a more formal cookout at the end of it. Pace is moderate and you have to be willing to "go with the flow" as this is a detour ride; you never know what creative route we'll take from trail to trail. And while 75 miles is a bit of a haul on a mountain bike, there's plenty of road (we just can't link that many trails without some asphalt). So who's in?Alan

Now you're talking. Don't know when it will happen. Cross season is almost upon us. How about Sunday 9/14?
For a route, I propose we try to find a way up to Mica Peak, then down through liberty lake, and then over to Mt Spokane peak area.

Mike, you crazy fool! I'm in. This is short notice, though, for some of our fair-weather friends. Is there anyone dumb enough to join Mike and I on this feat of pedaling endurance/stupidity?

BTW, would it be blasphemous to bring 'cross bikes?

No, not blasphemous, but definitely "cheating"...but it is a DeTour ride so ride what you want, so long as it'll go the distance.

How does Sunday, September 21 sound? Start at 8 a.m. at Downriver Grille?
Down to Bowl & Pitcher and across the river Out to People's Park Up the South Hill Coffee at 43rd Street Rocket Market Out to whatever those hills are called that has a ridiculous hike for no good reason Somehow get in a bit of Beacon Out towards the Valley's trails Out towards Mount Spokane Up Mount Spokane, or at least a good part of it Through Greenbluff Back toward Downriver Grille Eat someplace for dinner
