To Rossland Sept 24, A Sunday. It's only 2.5 to 3 hours away. MTB at it's best. Might leave the night of the 23rd to brake up the driving. I've never been but am doing trail research now. Any first hand trail info would be great, First hand only! If your interested let me know through this post.

The weather for the next 14days looks pretty stable. There is a weather link on one of those pages posted. I vote for the Seven Summits Trail, it say's an EPIC 19 mile with 3000 Ft of Vert. Sounds like fun. Plus killer views, bring a camara!

I'm really crying about missing this one. Maybe you guys could plan a second trip in October if the weather holds.

Scott W. I'm in I will ride/push the krap out of that place. IMBA's top 10 epic rides. Only 2.5 hours away. Bring a drivers license and birth certificate to get in out of our great country. www.rosslandtrails.ca/ssmap.htm Copy paste this link. It will be like riding Sherman pass, but longer by 2 miles..

Hey Canada-goers...give us the dirt! How was it north of the border?

Well, at the last minute, I convinced my wife that I should go to Canada. I don't know how much that convincing cost me, but it was worth it.
We stayed at Sean's aunt and uncles place in Rossland, a beautiful little town where they call pitchers of beer "jugs" of beer and where there's a feel of "outdoors" wherever you go.
The Seven Summits ride was tough on those of us with hardtails; most of the trail was embedded with rocks and rots of all shapes and sizes. Those with rear suspension had a bit easier time on the downhills, but didn't care for the squish-squish-squish on the long uphills. Technical enough to be challenging for the average rider, but still fun for the more advanced, too (but to know for sure, ask Scott, who rocketed down every mountain slope with reckless abandonment).
The temperature was fantastic. Perhaps they've got this Indian Summer thing down. The trails were expertly manicured, with saplings and dead logs cut out of the way. There was only one, maybe two, confusing points in the trial, but we found our way well enough.
This ride redined the word "down" for me. Though the climbing was up, up, and more up, it was well worth it for the kilometers--when in Canada...---of downhill.
Flat Tire Count: Goode, 1, about 7 miles in,, sliced a sidewall on a sharp rock. Alan, 1, about 18 miles in, pinch flat after dropping a couple-foot ledge.
Foods of Choice: Sean, Enervit. Charlie, trailmix (stale and growing mold). David, Cliff Bars. Cassandra, apple. Scott, Enervit, Kokanee. Alan, E-caps, Powerbars, humble pie.
Biggest Surprise: Not one of us was strip-searched by the boarder patrol, even though Sean was begging for it with his "witty" comments to the guard.
Biggest Letdown: There just wasn't enough time left to do the route twice. If you're thinking about going, it would be good to make it into a two-day stay so you can ride it twice.
Peace out.
Alan

This year is out cause the shuttle guy is done running and that was KEY. I will be up there next year after the snow is gone. It was a great trail, with beautiful views, amazing single track, steep technical climbs and a blend of fast flowing and slow steep descents. I'll go back. The pic's will be up soon.
