I'm hoping to run the 20+ mile Upper Priest Lake trail this Sunday. We'd drive up in the morning and come home in the afternoon (it's about 3-4 hours of gorgeous trail riding). The only problem is that I need a boat. The ride starts on one side of the Upper Priest, but then to make a complete loop, one needs to cross a 50 yard channel at the very end of the trail.
If you're interested in doing this ride, I'd love to have you. But we'll need a canoe, a raft, a motorboat, or a decent wetsuit (I'm volunteering to swim). If you have anything that floats we can make this work.
Let me know.

Upper Priest is a great trail. Last I heard the east side of the upper lake needed to be cleared. If you haven’t done the American falls (308) trail that would be a great ride as well. One of the best actually. It is a in and out trail. Unbelievable old growth forest. You are practically in Canada at the end of the trail. I would defiantly suggest a riding partner for this trail as many Grizzle sightings have been reported at the north end of Priest Lake this year. One of my other favorite loops starts at Elkins. It incorporates trail 365 and Lake View. I love this trail and it has my favorite climb up to the top of the “Lake View trail”. This loop is probably about 15-18 miles. This loop does not disappoint with a great long decent back to the Elkins bar for an after ride beer. To complete this loop you need just a little local trail knowledge but it you want I could post the turns you need to make. If it were me I would do one of the above rides and forget about car hassles. Happy trails…………..

How are you going to carry your boat while you ride?

Here's how it'll work: - Drop off cars on one side of the channel, the end of the trail - Shuttle bikes across channel with boat - Leave boat on that side (side opposite of cars) - Finish ride at cars, drive around lake and pick up boat -- or -- if someone has a wetsuit, I'll swim across the channel, pick up the boat and bring it back to the cars. Serious: if you have a wetsuit, I'll swim the channel to retrieve the boat.
It's not the smartest plan, but it can work.

Sarah's got a canoe you could probably borrow. It's in Cusick, sort of on the way to Priest. I'll be in Walla Walla this weekend, most likely.

We've got a boat now from Dick Webster. We've also got slated the following riders: Dick Webster, Dan Gillespie, Alan Jacob, and possibly Scott Buzan.
Is anyone else interested?

Sounds interesting. Was planning on going and then remembered that I have to be at my dad's birthday Sunday. I will have to plan on joining you on another ride.
I have three nice kayaks. If you need one or more, you are welcome to them. Just give me call to pick 'em up.

Bonus for those who join us: Jen has invited everyone who goes back to our house after the ride for lunch/early dinner. She'll have pot roast, potatoes, carrots, homemade fresh-baked bread, etc.
Any more takers?
